Summary: Female Beach Volleyball player April Ross has won 1st place overall 67 times with
one olympic silver and one bronze. She has competed in the olympics twice. In volleyball there are 3 main rules that make volleyball what it is today. The first rule is that you cannot touch the
ball more than once. This rule is here because when the ball is passed to your side you have
only 3 shots to get it back on the other side. If one person is just hitting the ball back and forth
with someone else then it's not a game of volleyball, its catch. Another rule is that you are not
allowed to catch the ball. If you catch the ball the team on the other side gets the point.
The last rule that I struggle the most with is if the ball hits the outside line then its out. I remember
team full blown arguments with the other team because their ball hit the line and the other side
didn't think so. We solve this problem with the line judges because they are the final say of what
happened because that's their job.
A D.S. is short for defensive specialist. The defensive specialist is just a person in the back row that is really skilled at getting the ball off the ground. A kill is just a point made when the front row
hits, spikes, or tip the ball over the net and the team can't get to it fast enough. “The gap” is a place
on the court where the opposite team is spiking there and there is no player that gets to the ball fast
enough because most of the time they are too far away.
A cliche in volleyball is the phrase, “break the surf”. Teams say this when another team is
constantly scoring points on the and when they finally give us the point then before the server serves we all yell “break the surf”.

Volleyball legend

One of the biggest volleyball legends is Mical Winiarski. Winiarski was born in Bydgoszcz,
Poland. Winiarski goes to Management and Administration College. His team is the Trefl
Gdansk and his record is 10-10 overall sets in a game.
